A presentation of the watergames is done at the launch of the Dutch Game Association was done.The focus was on ways to get funds to get The Watergames executed. Sponsoring or collective raising funds is the main aim.
The DGA is interested to start The Watergames as a DGA-project, since the concept is matching the goals of the DGA.

Cloudia the rainkeeper

Have a go at playing our latest game - Cloudia, the rainkeeper. As a player you are a cloud of water named Cloudia, and you will follow the journey of a cloud, experiencing the highs and lows in the global water ecosystem. The game will appear as a top down 3D-view. Mountains and acid rain will be threats and the distance you need to travel will influence the amount of water Cloudia can provide for the areas in need of water.
- Move Cloudia with your mouse
- Fill Cloudia with water by hovering above the ocean (press spacebar)
- Make it rain by emptying Cloudia above areas in need of water (press spacebar)

In this game your challenge is to manipulate a globe, rotating it on its axis. As the sun revolves around the globe, water evaporates on the earth's surface and clouds occur. People and plants need water to survive and be happy. By manipulating the globe you can control the forming of clouds and influence at what time it rains. Your planet will grow and prosper or dry out and suffer while you play.

The Waterbar - Money as water

In the Water Bar game each table displays the available budget to order food and drinks. Each order will be translated into an amount of water to show the value of water globally.

In the game you need to balance the orders to prevent one part of the world from dying of lack of water and the other part from being flooded. The game has different levels that relate to different scenarios, based on different countries and issues. This game can also be played online and the competition results will be shown on the big screen in the bar.

Waterrun

This is an interactive game to be played in the classroom. The game is designed to help children experience how difficult it is to get water in some countries, where children often have to walk many miles to get water and what the implications of this are. In the game, children need to build a virtual well and fill it with water.
They do this by first answering a range of questions on the topic of water. Children then need to take turns in running to fetch water. Each cup or bucket of water means the water level in the well is raised. However, it is a race against time, and the children need to get their answers right before being able to start filling the well with water.

Waterbucket Run

In this game you distribute water from a tank to distribute it as needed to three different areas:

1) the house/human
2) the land/plants
3) to animals

These areas consume different amounts of water and will need the water at different times. While playing the game, you will learn about these differences. At each level, the need for water will be different, e.g. in wet season the player has more time to play the level. In another level there might be more visitors in the house, so the house is using more water and it might be hard to supply the amount of water needed.

Water-status

Follow the natural path of water flowing down from the mountains over hills, into rivers, ending in the sea. You have to overcome many obstacles and can change your state to fluid, frozen or vaporized in order to avoid pollution as much as you can.
For instance as a cloud you are able to rise high and avoid polluted air from a factory. Or you are able to cross a salty river as ice.

Different levels represent different countries or regions with specific water-related challenges. For example, Holland has many dikes and windmills, a desert in sub-Saharan Africa has little vegetation and hardly any water. The game challenges you to think about what the right decision might be and allows you to learn from mistakes, highlighting issues to be considered in water management.

Salt water game

This is a quiz game about global water issues to be played in groups of 3 or more people. Going through the questions, each wrong answer means a small amount of salt is added to a glass of water. The fifth person that gives an incorrect answer has to drink a cup of the now very salty water.

This is a fun game with a serious message that raises awareness of the availability of drinking water and saltwater issues globally.

The Waterbar - Money as water

The Water Bar concept was the starting point for our vision of The Watergames; we wanted to create more games that could be played in the Water Bar.
We later decided our games should be available for all initiatives involving water to help build awareness and maximise exposure for this important issue.

Water is a miraculous element in itself. All life springs from water and up until today no substitute has been found for it. But did you know that 70% of this planet consists of water yet only 1% can be used for human consumption? And that every 15 seconds a child dies due to lack of drinking water, polluted water or bad sanitation? And that worldwide 1.2 billion people don’t have access to clean drinking water?

These are shocking and uncomfortable facts, but we strongly believe that we can make a difference together! This is why we have started the Water Bar initiative.

The Water Bar is a sustainable and innovative bar concept in which water has a central place. The function of the bar is simple: a place to energize and revitalize, to bring people together and to raise awareness for water-related issues. Besides this, the Waterbar is the first bar in the world that aims to be water neutral. How? By compensating its water
